This is how international investors rate Germany as a business location

For the fifth time, as part of the “Business Destination Germany” study series, we surveyed CFOs of the largest German subsidiaries of international corporations from the eight most important investor countries regarding Germany’s competitiveness in comparison with the rest of the EU. The key finding for 2026: in the face of a backlog of reforms, international investors are increasingly losing confidence in Germany as a business location – yet at the same time see opportunities for the future if the right course is set. In the study, you will learn, amongst other things,

  • which location factors make Germany particularly attractive – and which location factors are holding back investment,

  • why Germany remains a key location for many companies despite growing doubts,

  • how the investment plans, expectations and risk assessments of international investors are changing, and

  • where, from the companies’ perspective, the greatest levers for confidence, growth and competitiveness lie.
