A central theme of this issue is current legal developments on the topic of digitalisation. The recently issued Guidance on art. 17 of the European Directive 2019/790 on Copyright in the Digital Single Market is analysed, as is the implementation of this directive in the German copyright reform. In addition, various articles deal with CJEUrulings on the protection of databases and the liability of online platform operators for copyright infringements. Another highlight deals with the impact of the COVID pandemic on patent protection and the problem of compulsory licensing. Featured is also an article which provides insight into the protection of non-registered trademarks in Argentina. Reports on new legislative initiatives in various jurisdictions, analyses of recent court decisions and news will complete the picture.
