The unusual spate of bank runs in spring 2023 clearly showed how vulnerable deposit bank business models are. We explain how banks can increase their resilience through a 10-point action plan.

Recent examples from the US and Switzerland have shown that the digital transformation is having a significant impact on the way bank runs happen. Discussions on social media can result in massive deposit outflows in a short space of time. As information and rumours spread increasingly quickly and anyone who invests money can withdraw this at the click of a mouse, banks are facing a new dynamic.

Banks must optimise risk management and keep an eye on factors that could have an impact, from social media to regulations to product development. Our new white paper presents a 10-point action plan for how banks can further refine their risk management and increase their resilience.
